Fashion Philanthropy

At Malene Grotrian Design we strive to make a positive impact in our community by supporting charities and non-profit organizations in a variety of ways. We are very proud to work strategically with local and national organizations to give back in a philanthropic way.

Our involvement with local charitable organizations, events and fundraisers is a very important component of our business. We take pride in our participation and whenever possible, we are more than happy to contribute anywhere we can to help.

Since opening our doors in our Gastown atelier we’ve taken part of a number of events across Vancouver.

Gala. Glam. Give. was an amazing evening supporting Ovarian Cancer Canada. A special runway show showcased custom couture designs, modelled by noted local celebrities including Dawn Chubai, Jody Vance, Pamela Martin, Fanny Kiefer, Vicki Gabereau, Ashleigh McIvor, Erin Cebula and other noted local celebrities.

Watch the fashion show here. View the photo gallery from our website here.

This past April we held a Spring Forward Connecting & Fashion Event supporting Cancer Awareness Month. It was a fantastic afternoon of networking, mingling and fashion. Guests enjoyed wonderful networking opportunities, a fashion show featuring our Spring/Summer 2011 collection, tasty chocolate treats from CoCoa Nymph Chocolatier, champagne upon arrival and a cupcake upon departure.  We worked closely with a small team of business women to co-ordinate this event.

Check out the event gallery here.

We are so proud to be apart of our community and we’re always excited and ready to help support great charities and foundations looking to make a positive impact to all the people in our city. If you’re interested in collaborating we are very eager to explore new possibilities in partnering with organizations to create successful charity events.

Walk of Hope

We are proud and excited to support this year’s Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope. A Malene Grotrian Design certificate will be amongst other great items up for grabs during the silent auction.

You too can join in to help raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer, and create a community for women and their families that have been touched by this disease.

There is no early detection screening test for ovarian cancer. Seventy percent of women do not survive longer than five years because their diagnosis comes too late. With early detection, survival rates will increase dramatically to 90%.*

Ovarian cancer is the most serious of all gynecological cancers. Over 2600 Canadian women are diagnosed every year; and every year 1750 women succumb to this disease. Symptoms are varied, vague and easily missed.*

It is an honor to be apart of this cause and we hope that you too can support a very important foundation.

Fashion with a cause

Did you know human trafficking has become a global and multi-faceted phenomenon? It occurs across and within national borders. Its defining feature is the illegal exploitation of women, men and children*

Did you know there are about 100 per hour trafficking victims? After drug dealing, human trafficking is tied with the illegal arms industry as the second largest criminal industry in the world today, and it is the fastest growing. Canada is estimated at between $120 million to $400 million per year and accounts for approximately 8,000 to 16,000 people arriving in Canada per year illegally.

We are so proud to support Fashion Hope a Fashion against Human Trafficking Fundraiser, this Saturday, July 23. This wonderful evening will be held at Sugar Studios and features Sascha Mazzucco Photo Exhibit, Raphael Mazzucco Artwork for Fashion Hope, Lisa Marie Mazzucco. Speaker Miss Universe Canada Tara Teng and MP Joy Smith. Silent Auction items by Leone Fashion, Danier, Bun, Malene Grotrian Design, Lav & Kush and Jacqueline Conoir.

Tickets are $100, tax deductible and all proceeds go to Fashion Hope.
