FMA Fashion Week is a truly unique concept. The objective is to appeal to the fashion conscious consumer through promotion of Vancouver’s fashion industry including retailer & designer brands and boutiques showcasing what is available to them in the Vancouver marketplace. The goal is to develop a fashion week that is both an industry & consumer event that represents Vancouver. Events include runway fashion shows with showroom shopping and exhibits, musical & artistic performances, retailer store VIP shopping events, VIP receptions, art exhibitions and dining out experiences throughout the city. This unique platform includes showroom shopping with exclusive items seen during the show. There will also be local art exhibits and music performances. Furthermore, they will partner with some of the city's top restaurants to create a special 3 course dinner menu with partial proceeds being donated to the charity associated with FMA Fashion Week.The Sarah McLachlan Foundation is the charity of choice for FMA Fashion week 2010, with funds being raised from ticket sales, auctions and restaurant partnerships.

Kids Up Front 19th Hole Event

July 6, 2010 | Kids Up Front is an outstanding charitable organization that provides access to arts, culture, sports and recreation for kids who otherwise would not have the opportunity. The organization distributes unused event tickets and creates special events to help heal, bond and unite. Since June 2004, Kids Up Front has gifted 160,000 event tickets valued at $4.5 million to kids and families across Greater Vancouver – tickets that otherwise would have gone unused.

Kids Up Front is excited to present the second annual fun, sassy but classy 19th HOle on October 21, 2010 at the Rocky Mountaineer Station. The 19th HOle is an opportunity to enjoy a unique evening of fun golf & spa-themed activities, while helping Kids Up Front continue to change the lives of children. Proud to be a part of Runway4Life

May 15, 2010 | With already over $130,000 in pledges raised, the Runway4Life show is shaping up raise a lot of money for The Rally 4Life Foundation who are tackling the global thirst epidemic. Holding their inaugural charity fund raising event this May long weekend at The Cove Lakeside Resort, Malene Grotrian Design is featured as the Finale showing in the Fashion Show.

The fundraiser is being hosted by Antares Media, drama and entertainment specialists, who are producing a 6 part TV documentary about the groups efforts to tackle the worlds most gruelling motorsport event, the infamous Dakar Rally and their endeavours to raise $4 million to save 200,000 lives by providing access to clean water. The event is attracting top fashion designers, jewelry designers, musicians and TV stars.

"It is a whirlwind of activity at the moment. We are very honoured that so many talented designers and musicians are coming to help us." said Jackie Jennings-Bates, the co-founder of the Rally4Life project.

Grandma's Gown Goes Couture

Did you know you can have a custom made bridal gown by Malene Grotrian?

Tammy always dreamed of walking down the aisle in a gown that truly reflected the special day and her family’s heritage. She was inspired by wearing a piece of history – a wedding gown her Grandmother and two of her Aunts had worn.

After carefully examining the meters and meters of nearly century old fabric, puffy sleeves, and other out dated styling, Tammy was perplexed about how her dream gown could come from this out of date, yet very precious, wedding dress.

Tammy found her solution with Malene Grotrian Design. Malene worked closely with Tammy to sketch her dream gown, focusing on the couture details and small nuances that made the dress exactly what she had dreamed of. Incorporating the historical lace fabric of her Grandmother's dress paired with additional new fabric, and a custom design, Tammy’s gown was perfect.

As she walked down the aisle on her special day, friends and family could see her gown was gorgeous, and Tammy looked radiant, but it was much more than that....Tammy approached her Groom wearing something old and something new that was so special to her heart. Memories of her Grandmother and her special day will last a lifetime.
